Day 06 :: Bus Stop

Sooo… Meg and I went to a prop house today to take a gander at styrofoam camels, caskets, vintage wheel chairs, and stuff like that. Like you do. We are heading back to the studio and I see the MOMENT for my picture today. Two gentlemen were sitting at the bus stop having a very animated conversation. Their shadows were amazing. I, of course, was sandwiched between two cars at a red light and could not swing around to get the shot. No worries! It’s a MARTA bus stop. They could be sitting there for days until a bus comes along! The light turned green and I whipped around to get my shot just as the bus pulls up. I’m jumping out of my car as they jump on the bus.

Expletives. Sad face.

Meg and I sit in a bank parking lot for awhile waiting for someone else to wait for the bus.

Meg finally waits for the bus.

Moment found… Moment lost… Moment made up.

Cheers,
Zack

    i struggle with that. wanting to make pictures as they happen naturally. as i’m inspired to capture them, in the moment and not forcing myself to make them happen. the challenges of the 365.

    was the offset legs vs shadow intentional? Makes the shot for me. I am encouraged to know that the pros find value in 365 projects too.

    It wasn’t intentional at all. That’s just how it was. What was intentional was my choice to either show that or not. Jay Maisel talks about composition in terms of what you show the viewer AND what you do not show the viewer. And yes, I see huge value in 365 projects. I would have done one earlier but I’ve been lazy. :)

    Love this. and the fact that it’s meg is even better. love the feet, love her profile. but i don’t like the cup… i’m sorta reading that into part of the narrative…
