This is Kevin. I just met him today. He was hanging around the building because he was attending the LaCour workshop for the past few days. He came up for the OneLight mixer we had tonight. It was good times. The idea box got filled up. More to come on what that thing is over at zarias.com.
I’m setting up a simple portrait when Kevin informs me that he was recently photographed by Joe McNally. My manhood shrank up when he told me that. I still had to make a photo though.
How it was shot :: AlienBee 800 @ 1/4 power in a 28″ Westcott Apollo softbox.

diggin this thing ya got here. i like seeing non-portfolio work. especially when you put it on a deadline.
so how ya doin’ man?
I’m a big fan of your style of clean, well lit portraits. It’s a refreshing departure from the over processed material that is out there.
I don’t think I’m ever intimidated by who has photographed a subject before me, I DO get intimidated by the subject themselves from time to time though. It can be hard to get past that. Sometimes on a shoot I take the advice of that fish Dory in Finding Nemo where she says “Just keep swimming, just keep swimming…”
Ha! Hey now. The McNally comment was more about ‘holy crap. First Joe taking my pic, now Zack.’ Both of you did a great job. Thanks Zack!
You’re the wizard of one light, Zack!
Don’t give up with 395, I really enjoy it and a lot of other people do ;)
Watching you shoot this last night, I was like “Dude This is going to just rock!” And I was right.
Aww, Zack! I always love your stuff! And am totally diggin’ your 365 so far! (no shocker there though!) =)
I’m glad I found your 365 project, I’m really enjoying it. I’m really impressed with the separation from the background you are able to achieve with just one light; motivates me to go practice.
funny, i think i remember seeing this guy on joe’s site.
nice pic!
ardean, yea. joe has a pic of me on his site as well with a green hoody. I should start charging a model fee, eh?
Hate I missed the mixer that night. I had already planned on going to SAF the following evening. Two nights of over four hours in the car is not my idea of fun.
i gotta get me to atlanta
