At the Photo 101 workshop we spend half a day working on head shots.
One more day tomorrow!
How it was shot :: Lit from the window behind her. Reflectors catching that window light and bouncing it back into the eyes.

Zack

nice light! No post, huh?
She is beautiful.
Great image. Love the eyes, DOF really adds to the strong light.
Oh my God, that’s stunning! The DoF’s unbelievable.
But listen Zack, the question on everyones’ lips is “How long did it take you to grow that beard?”
(‘…on everyones’ lips…’, HA! Now THAT was funny…)
Good work fella.
Simple and ingenious use of available light…love it!
You don’t always need the McNally truck!
WOWza! Stunning in every way!
That’s a great portrait – great eyes!
You really are the prince of light.
I CAN NOT WAIT TO TAKE YOUR WORKSHOP IN ASHEVILLE IN JUNE!!! YOU ROCK ZACK!
Beautiful photograph! I like the simplicity.
Toby – I haven’t seen my chin in over 15 years! :)

Zack
JD – The only post production done was converting to B&W and resize for the web.
Very cool! I got the biggest honkin’ catchlights I have ever seen when shooting Ilene using your “Big Mama” soft box! Loved the workshop! I have some images the models like, where can I email them?
Excellent lighting, great quick technique!
I just love your How it was shot info, just brilliant, you rock!
Thanks for sharing the tips, Zack =)
Wow! I just realized that you mentioned that the light is only from the window behind her? Now that’s awesome….
You have reflectors bouncing the light back into her eyes! Great!!
