I would check back here once a week after it stopped just to hear your final words on it.

It's better that you had the guts to quit — because I sure as hell didn't. It must be great having nights free again :)

It must have been tough to try doing this with everything else you have going on. I wouldn't want to force myself to be creative either. It was fun while it lasted Zack!

Zack,

I totally understand and respect your decision. I started mine on Jan the 1st (after seeing totally rocking 365s by <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/polvero/sets/72157611811908959/" rel="nofollow">Dustin Diaz</a> and <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/renolauren/collections/72157623425840241/" rel="nofollow">LaurenLemon</a>) and lasted only a bit over a <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/konfral/sets/72157623112412224/" rel="nofollow">100 days</a> myself.
The pleasure and freedom of photographing "for myself" very quickly turned into a forced "to do" point on a daily agenda, and totally killed creativity...
Respect to all those who completed the project successfully, especially on top of their "day jobs" and family commitments.

Hey Zack!

You were amazing to have stayed with it as consistently as you did, man! Thanks for the inspiration and images along the journey. I've had times when I've found it real tough to just keep shooting fresh and not feel like you are in a rut and just have to do it.

The recent Rangefinder article on you was good. Continue to inspire.

Best wishes to you, Meghan and your family!

Too bad, but understandable. And it takes a man to admit this! RESPECT!!
Like Pete K I'm on day 50 of my own 365 but doing allright so far. It's hard and takes time but up till now it's been great fun. I can see that with your schedule it's impossible to keep up.
Maybe you could turn it into a 52 project or something, one post a week. I bet you have tons of interesting pictures with stories to them, start posting those.
Good luck!

this is bad news! partly because I enjoyed your excellent images but also because I am about 50 days through one myself and am feeling the 'test of character' right now ;) I, like you, have a full-on life, many kids and a busy job. Unlike you, if I stuff up my photography, my job isn't affected in the slightest. In some respects it would have been nice to seen your off-days - makes things more attainable perhaps, but I do understand that might not make much business sense. I have a feeling your off-days would have still looked better than my on-days...
Thanks Zack for the inspiration in this and other endeavors :)

Good. Your 365 sucked anyway. I'm not trying to be a dick, but it sure seemed that you weren't putting much effort into it. I was excited to see you start one and maybe I expected too much from you. I love your work, but I wasn't very impressed. sorry :(

I can totally relate. I am still on the wagon with my 365 but it is at the expense of having to post some pictures that should never have seen the light of day. I am still doing it though and overall my photography is improving if only because a lot of the shots I am taking are that much easier to take because of practice and repetition. My wife and kids want to publish a 365 book with all of my photos throughout the year but I couldn't handle having so many mediocre pics in it.

The upside is that I do think that I can create a rockin' book with 50-60 pictures in it. Now that's something that I would not have been able to do without the 365 project forcing me to take picture after picture, day after day.
